Webposition vs Topdog vs SE Commando
What do you think of these three products? I want to offer marketing services to a local hosting company which will mean many different websites to manage. I really need a program that will track monthly page ranking within multiple SE and will also provide professional reporting.

Also I would like one package that provides good SEO tools as well as submission to all the minor search engines and directories. I will still do the big SE by hand.

http://www.searchenginecommando.com/
http://www.webposition.com

Thanks,
Jamie

And don't forget AgentWebRanking [agentwebranking.com]. And there is one more big one I can't think of right now!?

Anyway, if you four folks would send me a comp copy of the software (have, wpg and sec), I would do a full unbiased review of them for WebmasterWorld.

Slightly off-topic but that's an excellent idea Brett.

Site Management Software/Logfile Analysers should be added to your independent reviews.

And I thought these broke most TOS of the SE's.

Shame on you Brett ;)

I'm in agreement on this one. An independent unbiased review of each of those four would do wonders for the SEO industry. At least we could discount many of the rumors that have surfaced since the program's inception.

On a side note; I sure wish the SE's would get off the wagon and offer these services in a paid format. I know many of my clients wouldn't mind paying and knowing that they would not get penalized for violating an SE's TOS.

Heck I'd be willing to chip in to buy Brett a copy of each just to watch the the fun when the unbiased reviews get posted. ;)

Good point pageone. In effect - a rank checker is nothing more than someone interested in, continuously using and very loyal to that engine as well as creating new user potential.

In retrospect - there are significantly more daily individual users placing bandwidth burden on search engines than all checkers monthly use combined.

Sound like an opportunity of investment return to me.

Are you thinking of SubmitWolf Brett?

www.topdogsoftware.biz

There are two different TopDogs now. I don't recall all the details, but there was a legal battle involving the original programmer that has resulted in another entirely different package available through www.TopDog.com

Hi Brett,

How about GRKda from GRsoftware.net? Maybe be a bit more technical but 2 years ago it was the tool of gods.

Still approved by Black Knight and Steven Mathern btw :-)

Heres my two cents of review criteria that I would like to see filled in:

speed (over 20 search terms)
interface (ease of use)
Software Discretion (e.g. acting as a browser)
Features
No of engines
Countries Supported
Save / Export options
Customer Support
Updates
Cost

I have used TD (original) WPG and AWR professionally and to be honest I actually think they all do the job they are supposed to do! Search Engine Commando from my knowledge is produced by the same guy who produced Top Dogg - David Cecil.

It just depends on what colour you would like it in sir?

I would put customer support a bit nearer the top, unknownsoldier, because if the software isn't working and you can't get any support, speed and good interface aren't going to do you much good!

I don't know if Google is starting to block Top Dog but I can't get a report now from Google (the report repeats the sponsored listings over and over). I can't get reports from several other major engines too.

Brett - there's a reporter / submission program called IBP put out by the Arelis crowd.

Your report will be facinating reading & no doubt rock a few boats! Have any idea when it'll be ready?

Cheers

I used to use WebPosition. Until I found this:

"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

at [google.com...]

So, back to manual again......
