Has my site content been Hijacked?

I had managed to get my site ranked on the first page on Google for certain searches strings ie: website design coventry. However my site has suddenly become difficult to find even though the content has not changed. I have recently found that a number of other companies appear to have hijacked my keywords and meta tags and have created pages which are ranking higher and appearing to be links to my site. I am also concerned that they may be doing something to harm my ranking.

Hi Chilly,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. [webmasterworld.com]

If they're simply copying your meta tags, don't worry, Google really doesn't consider them. And most of the other SE's put very little weight in them.

Not sure what you mean by

and appearing to be links to my site.

It may be that they're just plain old out-ranking you now. But you've got an ace in the hole, you've found WebmasterWorld. There is a *wealth* of info to be learned here.

Good luck,

Hi rmjvol

Thanks for your reply.

My concern is the speed my site appears to have dissapeared almost entirely from Google. This has happened really really quickly. In about two weeks actually! Gone from No1 listing to nowhere.

It's not just a case of slowly slipping down the rankings, it has practically gone overnight! I have also stopped getting the usual referrals from Google in my web stats too.

Rankings on other SE's is still ok. For example 8th on MSN for "website Design Coventry".

There is something really dodgy about this. Could it be that someone is re-submitting my site constantly in an effort to have it banned for spamming?

Hi chilly

As Google updates its entire index monthly, and the update has actually happened in the last two weeks, many sites have moved dramatically.

You might want to checck out the Google forum and read up on the update to see whether that might account for your change in circumstances.

Someone repeatedly submitting your site will not affect your ranking.

You have a PR1. A cursory look at your page and source shows you need help with regard to Google page building techniques. I suggest you search: " Brett's quick rank " and follow the guidelines.
