say i run a widget shop under brandname.com. now somebody sold me (quite cheap) the domains widget.com, another-widget.com and onemore-widget.com.

what should i do with them? i consider making doorway pages targeting for those 3 keywords. they would not have inbound links from my site navigation, just from the site map. but they would carry the site's layout and navigation.

is that a clever thing to do? any other ideas?

What you described above is a hand written dinner invitation to the penalty Gods. :)

Develop a significant amount of unique content on each domain, and cross-link only after you've established quality inbound links for them from 3rd party sites.

Short term is would work but long term you have a high chance of a ban: Stupid idea.

thanks for advice. would it be ok if the "doorway" page was part of my site navigation? so the widget section having widget.com as URL instead of brandname.com/widgets?

another question: how do i determine if the domains i purchased have been banned previously? one has PR4 in google (no backlinks), one PR0 (white bar) and one has a gray bar.

if using framed pages with individual header frame for each site with keywords relevant to each...ie houstonwidgets.com, dallaswidgets.com, austinwidgets.com and the left frame and the content frame info comes from texaswidgets.com will this affect search engine ratings
