Im having trouble getting a site listed with many of the SE's.

So far, all I seem to be listed on is altavista. I have no problem getting a response using 'my domain name' as a search but when I use 'keyword example' I get nothing.

I have submitted to Google & yahoo nearly 8 weeks ago but Im still not getting a listing.

Im very new to SEO so any advice would be of great benefit!
Thanks.

Hi hyper and Welcome to Webmaster World [webmasterworld.com]

Try submitting to Dmoz.org
And try a search for some keywords which you are targetting, and see if there is anymore directories which you can submit your site to.

The easiest and best way to get index is by collecting inbound links (incomming links to your site), this is because spiders follows the links, and get an eye for you site, and then they index it.

A very good thread that i would recommend is:
Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone
[webmasterworld.com]
It gives you a very good idea how to achieve a good ranking in Google, which is the biggest player today, but it also helps much with the other search engines.

Also, try not to post your own URL, that's what the Profile is for (also not allowed according to TOS) [webmasterworld.com]
