How to Optimize for EzPublish Site?

First time to deal with this cms

I've taken on a new client that has a site driven by the EZPublish content management system. He's willing to spend $$ on SEO but not on site design or a different cms. For the time being, I have to work with that cms.

The site was new in July. No inbound links & it had not been spidered until I got involved. Spidered well in late September. We'll see how things come out after the dance settles.

My plan is to focus primarily on offpage factors as I don't have a good feel for what the cms can do. I have been able to add some keywords in the visible content but the code produced by ezpublish makes FrontPage code look svelt.

Has anyone successfully optimized an EZ publish site? Any tips?

Sorry to go unanswered here, but it looks like an interesting package, however I have not heard of anyone using it at all.

Thanks Brett,

I've got 2 good on theme links & a third (off theme) that has a PR5.

So far, index splash page (all links point to this page) has a grey Toolbar & no TB cache. But it's in the index with a fresh tag & ther serp listing shows a cache.

The main page (under the splash) has a PR4 on the TB. We'll see what happens after the next dance.
