how to always return your homepage in results

i have been investigating a particular site and whenever they are found in serch results it is the full url to the homepage and not to individual pages within the site. The homepage does not give the best results for a particular serch but still it is the homepage that is listed. is there a way of doing this or a reason for doing this?

How is it listed in the search engine? Are you seeing a simple redirect after you click on the se listing?

Could it be a frame? So are hard to spot at first glance.
