Is there a string out there that lists the common tools of the trade. A must have list. If not, can we make one.

Thanks

For SEO, I basically use NoteTab Pro and a browser. MS Excel is often useful. Occasionally I use PhotoShop or Paintshop Pro, but that's transcending the boundaries of pure SEO.

I'd also have a hard time getting by without Windows Commander, which is my basic file management tool.

The last time I posted this WebmasterWorld took their server down (in less than 5 minutes). I believe it was Woz that indicated the Power of WebmasterWorld, or at least the following.

Maxamine, a site analysis and mangement tool that incorportates web logs, and traffic visualization.

Pretty pricey (at $2,000 for a single domain, unlimited $40,000) but the best I found. (that's per year)

My favorite odd tool is Windows Commander (a shareware look-alike to the old DOS based Norton Commander). Its super for moving files around, quick editing, even has a nice built in ftp client.

[i'm not affliated with WC in any way, other than as a user]

Yes, all those online tools, of course, as well.... In addition to the Overture, Wordtracker, and Google AdWords Select tools for targeting, I use Google Advanced Search, along with the other main engines, to measure competitiveness, check linking, and figure out what it will take to rank. The advanced search features on an engine also provide clues to what an engine's algo is about.

Sometimes, to get the lay of the land in the search environment, I'll take a look at things in Kartoo. Brett's Tools are an important part of the tool chest. Vivisimo also can be very useful if you use its clustering feature as a research tool... and Teoma can be helpful in searching for links.

Brett's online search engine tools [searchengineworld.com]

They are particularly good. :) And free.
