I have a PR 7, good keyword density, keywords in alt text etc etc etc...
So why is Amazon at the top who have stuffed metatags one mention of the word books and a lowely PR3.
They seem to have made no effort and are cruising at number 1 on a very very popular keyword, something is mighty fishy!?
a miserable and moaning

Amazon, has 50,500 inbound links if you check with the Link: commando on Google.
Google ranks there results very much based on Link Text, and i am sure quite many of those inbound links have "Books" in the text, and therefore you get a better ranking for books.
Google have always trusted Link Popularity, and Link text more that Keyword Density.
1 - Amazon redirects. Note the url when you arrive there. Do you think people will put this whole bible in links to them?
2 - Text content on external links to them. Do you have as many with "books" in it?
Good luck at beating amazon for books. Please tell us when it's done. ;)
