Hi,

We have a couple of websites, both of which seem to be doing very well. The problem is though that when we look up the stats, under the refferers section, there are about 600 titled "No Referers".

Can anyone advise me on what causes this. Is it to do with search engines?

Depends on how many total hits you have. If you have 604 hits and 600 of them are "No Referrers" then it's odd. If it's somewhere in the 20-40% range, it's pretty common. No referrers can come in if:

1) Someone types the URL or copies and pastes it from somewhere.
2) Someone comes in from a bookmark. (Systems used to track these pretty well, but many don't anymore due to changes in the way bookmarks are stored in newer browsers).
3) Someone is using Norton or some other software that blocks referrers.
4) A Spider/Web Crawler hits. (They never have a referrer)
5) E-Mail/Newsgroups (Web based e-mail will give a referrer but depending upon your tracking software, browsers [Outlook, NS Mail, Eudora, etc.] may not send a proper referrer).
6) There are more, I'm sure, what am I forgetting?
