I have been watching the Ink "Update Thread" which started around the first of the month or so. During the start of August my MSN accounted for about 3 - 4% of my site traffic.
On the 15th it was 3%
On the 16th it was 11%
Today it is 12%
Is the ink update hitting msn now?
I have also been trying to "work my way in MSN" through Zeal but still my site only has one listing with Zeal?
Strange.
Any ideas?

My "master plan" has been to NOT pay for spidering and wait, wait ...wait (and hope). That I would make it in the data base, seams like many of my pages are now included in ink and msn. Now thta I am in the data base seams like things should only getter better, as my site grows and I pick up more incoming links.
One thing, when I started with my new site about 13 months ago I was running on 100% google. At the time it seamed that meta tags were not that important. I am now thinking of adding those to most of my pages to up key word density for ink (I have heard that they like pages that are a bit more rich in density than google). Most of my pages rank on google from higher pagerank than others, my topics are competative and I feel that increasing the density will not hurt my google ranks that much .... I have the pr.
Am I on the right track?

Many seam to think that SEO is dead, even sounds like a recent thread. But that is far from the truth, it has just changed much in the last two years. I have never paid a dime for any traffic with my first site (chef related) and now generate over 65,000 uniques daily. My current traffic goal is to reach 100,000 monthly and I know I can get there. It takes time, persistance and understanding what the search engines, or directories want.
I have got: tons of google referrals, a free listing on yahoo about 5 months ago, into ink for free (about 50 or so urls as of now) and other engines are picking me up as well.
Who says seo is dead?

Sounds like you reach your goal in two days ;)
This relatively new site ad Google as its top referrer, with AOL coming in second, and MSN in third. Lately, MSN has moved to the #2 referrer for this site, and we are seeing an increase in traffic for a number of sites.

For my own sites, I do not pay for any spidering and the sites are all in INK and do well in MSN. There is no way to tell if the site will be picked up though....it is a shot in the dark. It really depends on the amount of time you have to wait, and if you can risk the chance that you might not be included for free.
