Automated online client reporting

Do you offer this?

I'm looking to develop an automatic online reporting tool for my clients to use 24/7. I've only seen a small number of SEO companies offering this but by and large its not done due to the complexity I'm guessing?

Not wanting to reinvent the wheel, if anyone would be kind enough to share their experiences of implementing such an automatic system, it would be most appreciated. Better again, if someone has built such a system for a company and would like to replicate what they have already created, I would be most interested in hearing from them - by stickymail.

The type of things I'd like to include are:

Ability to show where a client's site is on the search engines for some or all of their phrases and to have such reports emailed to them any time.

To be alerted by email when a url position moves on a particular se

To be advised of the amount of traffic from a particular se for a specific phrase

Show the amount of web traffic a site is getting for all its phrases

Show various results for different promotional URLs

What are the most popular search phrases which the client is getting traffic on?

Theres lots more stuff that could be added here but hopefully you get the idea.

Thanks for your thoughts.
John

hi johnser,

recording se positions could get messy because se's often change the format of their results page, this could involve a fair amount of maintenance. also you would have to determine what you want to measure (ie should you include ppc or sponsored listings or pure seo results)

also consider the google dance, your clients might recieve multiple emails as the serps flutter up and down.

it is an interesting requirement though and one which could give your seo business an edge over the competition.

also remember that se's frown upon automated queries so you would have to be careful about how you publicise this!

Thanks IncyWincy

Fair points - I'm thinking of perhaps having an online version of WPG for eg. I did come across 1 company offering something similar to wpg online but after several emails, I heard nothing back - can't remember their name.

Some of the more professional SEOs have this functionality already but I'm looking to implement it as I think it would blow away most of the competition as you rightly say.

Re automated queries and having IP banned, I agree. Perhaps limiting reports to 2 a week for eg, being run slowly at 5am in California might be the best option?
