Does putting (UK) in the page title lower the keyword value?

We have been putting UK at the beginning of 1 of our page titles, with the idea that this will target mainly UK visitors. Does this lower our position in the results? We seem to rank below many sites with lower PR. Anyone help?

Hi
I think not. Most people do not use the 'uk sites only search' and instead use UK in the search term. Therefore it is a good idea to target 'uk' as a keyword..

We have number 1 positions for employment searches ending in 'UK' which are competative searches.

Ranking is not dictated by PR alone, there are loads of other factors e.g. relevancy, word frequency etc. etc.

Hi GodlikeLotus,

It might be an idea to put the UK at the end of the title as opposed to the beginning.

I have a couple of sites that target UK visitors only and I get very good results, I always put the UK part at the end of the title.

One thing to make sure of if you put the UK at the end of the title is that no SE truncates the title and cuts off the UK part as this could give you visitors that would not otherwise want.

Good Luck :)
