Is it possible to boost the PR of a Yahoo category ?

For the benefit of a site listed in that category

I've just been checking out a few of our sites' listings in Yahoo, and I was shocked to see the variation in PR between categories.

Obviously, the higher up the Yahoo structure, the higher the PR of that category, but there are still some big variations. I was thinking could it be possible to boost the PR of a category (say from 2 to 3, or 3 to 4) by linking to these categories from several pages with higher PRs.

Or is this just not gonna happen because Yahoo is so influential already, making it impossible to improve unless the link comes from Yahoo itself ?

I'd say the mathematics would apply to the Yahoo page like any other - if a page deep within the directory that had low PR suddenly picked up a bunch of high PR links, the PR of that page would almost certainly rise. I don't know if that's a sensible strategy, though - any boost to the PR of the Yahoo page would help competitors listed there just as much.

Why donīt you just get those links to your own page?

I'll be chasing links to our own pages, of course. But I just wanted a better return from our Yahoo listings. Let's face it, it's far easier to get into Yahoo than ODP, so you might as well get the most out of your Yahoo listings.

Not if you're a UK site. Ģ199 one time fee. Bargain I'd say.

Besides, it's the client's money - he he :-)
