What is a weblog?

What does it all mean?

Can someone explain what a weblog is? In simple 3 year old terms... I keep hearing people speak about it but have never seen a decent explanation of what one is...

Well, that's a tough one ;)

Ok, you know that a web site is placed on a web server? This web server tracks and saves all the the requests for files that arrives. I.e. every time a page or an image is seen in your browser it is one request. Also if a search engine spider accesses your site. All these requests are saved into a file called weblog.

Not certain a 3-year old would understand that, I certainly would not have at that age, but the youth of today is more knowledgable :)

Backus, are you talking about bloggers?

Would this not depend on what tracking software was installed on each server?

Oh, in this case I CAN do it in 3 years old talk: it is basically a web based diary, a place where people write down their thoughts, rants and so on and where they are ranked by date.

Mike, I don't get what you are asking?

If you are talking about bloggers go to blogger.com and i think that will explain what a weblog is.
