I'm in the middle of a reciprocal links campaign to bbost my link populrity. I've noticed one of the new links to my site is within an applet (code copied below).

My question is:

Is this kind do me any favours in terms of link popularity? Will search engines be able to follow it?

<APPLET code='AcuteScroller.class' archive='AcuteScroller.jar' width='350' height='170'>
<param name="Loading-Text" value="Loading images...">
<PARAM name="Message" value="

<section>Text<BR>
<link url='http://www.mydomain.com'>www.mydomain.com</link>
</section>

">

I have heard they wont but I dont see why it wouldnt since they can since the link is in the code. Though they say spiders choke on java scripts. Maybe someone can give you a better Idea as they come along.

Nope. Don't go for it. Search engines aren't able to read through that code. JavaScript and other programming languages are not well(or 100%) understood by the search engines. Always keep your scripts content as low as possible specially in the head part. Take my advice. HTML text links are the best! Never exchange image or banner links. I heard that some search engines will keep your site at the bottom if they find any free exchange banner in your site. Text links are the best.

What's your site about?
