Rank Link Popularity software

I am exhausted searching for and reviewing SE software! I just need an application (client or server)which will chart URL rank and popularity withnin SEs AND chart this number over time. There are a ton of apps out there there to do rank and link checks, some of which have nice nice reports, problem is - none of them I can find actually store this information and track it over time (graph/barchart).

To make matters worse, I have recently read that the regular (?time interval) use of automated SE query tools (like rank checkers) can hurt your URL. Not sure how often is too often, but Rank and Link popularity are two metrics I use to judge my effectiveness.

Can anyone help? I really don't want to cut-n-paste my numbers into spreadsheets. Surely someone else has recognized this need and has found an automated solution...

Look forward to your replies!
Joshua

Welcome to the board. (note:we do not allow signature style urls)

There really aren't any good long term trackers out there at all. It sounds like, you have already got to the few that are of the better breed.

To make matters worse, I have recently read that the regular (?time interval) use of automated SE query tools (like rank checkers) can hurt your URL.

I wouldn't worry about regular automated rank checking causing that kind of problem, especially if you are only checking your rank for keyword phrases, and not for your url or domain itself and the IP through which you're connecting wouldn't give you away. If you're querying on "best blue widgets" how would any search engine know which of the thousands of widget manaufacturers is making the query?

As for long-term tracking and graphing of results, some of the commercial rank-checking apps export to excel, which can eliminate the cut-and-paste approach. And then if you're fluent in excel or any database format into which they also might export, it's not too difficult to manage that tracking yourself.
