Currently I submit to the following engines:-

AltaVista
Fast / All the Web
Google
Inktomi
Looksmart
Lycos
MSN
Yahoo web pages

with submissions to the following directories:-

Yahoo
Open Directory
LookSmart

I have heard a lot recently about Teoma and Wisenut and wondered if my list needs a little rethinking? Is there any I should bin and replace? Any help would be much appreciated!

Yes, for the .com's, Wisenut is definately recommended at this time.

Teoma also shows great potential.

LookSmart is a waste of money now that they've gifted us with thier "miraculous" Small Business Listings.

Someone wise told me a week ago:

"Focus on Yahoo!, Google, and Intomi."

Wisenut has a box for "Comments" when you submit a site. Is it worth entering a comment, or is this just a happy-feel-good box with no real purpose? :)

I have to agree on that one. Teoma supplies Ask Jeeves results; I'm seeing a small, steady stream of traffic on one site, and some on a couple of others - and not all the keywords are ready to show up yet. I'd suggest keeping an eye out and checking up on what Teoma likes. Sometimes the newer ones take off and it pays to be geared up early in the game for them. Then, when they grow you're ready.

I'm just speculating at this point, but from what I've seen Teoma/Ask might be very good for "stuff" that the ladies look for because of the way Jeeves is set up, Just like I've found AOL and Yahoo to be good for gals' stuff. There's a paid submit, but you can wait and hope for getting included without - that's how my pages are in so far (free, they found the sites), but I might do a paid or two on another that's fairly new, it seems to be the right niche for it.

Teoma is must. They have a lot of finacial backing and they intend to become a BIG player. Get in now I say. And ODP if you can listed as it's not easy as most cat's don't have an editor. However, I got 1 of my sites listed there within 6 days recently.
