Hi Guys need some help

I have recently started a web development business and have landed a contract to promote the web site of a high profile bbc reporter. The thing is my customer wants his site to have a good search engine position before 25th May. I have explained that this is a tall order to the customer. However was wondering if you guys could suggested anything I can do. The customer wants his website marketing to peak at the same time as some uk media coverage 25th .

I have submitted to Inktomi Yahoo and Domz and all the other top search engines and will do overture and google ad words, any ideas would be more than helpful

This is a big deal for our little company as lots more work could come our way.

Thanks for your time on this one guys

E-Spotting may be good for the UK.

Yahoo is always where I get my quickest listings. Your other ideas are also good.

You can also try to work out link partnerships with related sites. Ask them to feature this reporter on their home page for awhile. Maybe any stories the reporter has done could be featured on the site and then linked to from other sites.

you will also be able to get into euroseek very quickly, though the benefits of that may take time

Buying Overture & Adwords slots is definitely the most 'insured' way to go.

since I have no idea what exactly you're trying to promote other than the guy himself - i would suggest creating Press Releases/newsworthy articles for online distribution to news sources that are relevant to the media event you're talking about - you can submit the news articles directly to something like this:
[uk.news.yahoo.com...]

I would think along those lines

If you need listings quick than pull out your wallet and pay Inktomi, AltaVista, FAST, and Teoma. You should be able to see results in these engines by the 25th. It usually takes around 2-4 days depending on the engine. Teoma might take a few more days.

Overture is also a good way to get up to the top quickly.

Some good ideas there thanks. Had not even thought about espotting

The website is promoting a series of travel books the journalist has written about what to do in a city in 24hrs

The reason why he is in a rush is that the 1st book publish is about Estonia where the Eurovision Song Contest is being held on 25th May. The customer is hoping to pick up some hits for people searching for stuff on the contest.

If any one would like to put a link on their site to help me out I would be very grateful. Sticky mail me if your interested

not at all Leon, just find your category and submit to it

its a new db, but maybe also good for your submissions since its the eurovision song contest and its a euro engine.

Ok though - I have to ask the million dollar question now -

Is there a page on the site specifically written about Estonia & this Eurovision song contest? In other words, have you created/optimized the site/page specifically for this event?

Because if you're going to pay for pages to be spidered/indexed - then they need this info on them to come up in the top results.

In short I do not have editorial control over the content of the website. I will however pass on your comments regarding the content to the customer

Leon, the quick submission services are the sort that will get you plenty of email spam and useless links in the wrong places

In that sense, its understandable to see why it takes so long to get your link into credible places.

IF the content owner was willing to part with some money, perhaps you could pay for some "very" strategic links here and there as a build up to the day (and this may help you get listed by a roaming spider), though the likes of google is very unlikely. Ahem, unless you have visited the site with the toolbar regularly lol
