I have a machine (G4 Tower) running Mac OS X Server 10.3.3 doing web virtual hosting multiple domains. I have used the Apple GUI exclusively in setting the whole thing up.

Under the "Logging" tab, I have selected the "combined" log format. When I return to the screen, it shows the actual string of the combined log format, however the last variable (the user agent) is MISSING the quote (") mark at the end of the line and so are my log files. This makes my logging software cry "corrupt" and I have incomplete data.

So I add the quote mark to the end and it works ... for a "little while"* and then that quote mark disappears. If I add two quote marks, my log files show two quote marks at the end for a "little while"*then one quote mark, then no quote mark.

I am completely perplexed and in need of assistance. Thanks in advance for your help! :)

* A "little while" is defined here as "a short time with no apparent fixed duration nor apparent explanation of duration."

Can't seem to edit the post above... Is there additional information missing that would help someone give me guidance?

This seems voodoo to me but I am willing to entertain any possible solutions and even approaches to finding a solution.
