Odd url.all search results

Inconsistent database or bad syntax?

Peculiar search result on Alltheweb:

This search:
url.all:www.example.url.edu finds 3,723 pages
and this search:
url.all:www.example.url.edu/cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/ finds 4,859 pages.

But the second should be a sub-set of the first. Do I misunderstand the syntax?

Looks like ATW handles the cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/ part as a seperate domain.

Would be interesting to see if
url.all:www.example.url.edu/cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/
finds pages which are not from www.example.url.edu/

In other words, identifying which pages are not found in the seemingly more general search should bring the answer.

Thanks for your reply, heini:

No, I do not think it does. I can search within those 4,859 pages for the company name--which is found on each of them and is unlikely to be found on any cgi-bin/hfs.cgi/00/ page from another domain. The result is the same 4,859 pages.

The only other explanation would be some pages appearing twice.
