FAST threatens Google

Can FAST really be a threat to Google. I have read many articles on this. Obviously nobody knows right now, I personally think this depends mainly on Google themsleves.

It depends on how you meassure it. Quality serps or market reach? (which atcually go hand in hand).

FAST's serps are imo quite as good as Google's - sometimes even better, but FAST need more reach to be known by Average-Joe on the street.
Remember Google's popularity was built on mouth to mouth. So ca FAST if they land a major web search partner.

So, yes I agree, FAST threatens Google.

alltheweb.com is just a testbed. If they ever were to market it directly, they might use another name. My guess is that the hope of FAST is to sell the search results to portals.

lycos.com is easier to remember and type and they use FAST

i'm not so sure its just a testbed any more - they've got banners, espotting PPC listings and other paid advertising. i got a feeling they're going to promote it throughout europe as a search engine that's better than google. it would be kind of stupid not to really.

hahah i dont even remember the domain name to FAST couz i call it FAST. So i think alltheweb.com well doesnt sound catchy. buy fast.com
