Lycos? Who?

Lycos turning up forth...

Not been around here for a while, extremely busy with my new post, not doing much in the way of SEO anymore. But I was taking a look at the stats of all our sites, and Lycos seems to be bringing in a lot of referrals. In fact, they're forth.

Has Lycos been doing a spot of advertising or something? Also, is Lycos still using Fast? If so, then why are my results completely different?

I haven't seen an uprise, is this for regional sites or also "usual" enlighs one's?

I know they hired an SEO to optimize their sites, that might have helped a little bit.

And yes they still uses FAST, but with 2 different set's of PPC on-top.

I haven't seen an increase in anything, despite being listed for almost all my stuff in alltheweb. :(

Perhaps people just don't search there anymore? (for certain categories, at any rate...)

No, not regional, pretty general stuff, i.e. smilies site... Maybe just a freak occurance...

I was just investigating the same thing. I have been noticing more hits via Lycos. And I found this thread.

1. It is hard to remember it has been so long but the layout of the SERPS page on Lycos looks like it is cleaned up. Does anyone know if this has changed?

2. Also the increased hits could be due to the improved Fast algo - at least for me.

Something is different because I'm seeing some actual traffic from Lyco for the first time in *gasp* years!

Nope, Lycos remains at the bottom of the heap for me. AV and Netscape search hits are up though. AV seems to be rallying a bit! Nothing major ... but a bit.
