What do people think gives a better ROI -
Lycos Insite or Position Tech?

I have submitted Web Hosting/Design sites under Position Tech and it was very disappointing. I know that category is extremely competetive.

Has anyone had better luck with Lycos Insite? I'm thinking of trying them.

Thanks
Craig

Hi Craig, Welcome to WebmasterWorld :)

Submitting through one or the other does not make a difference. Your pages end up in the same database.

Is Position Tech offering this service officially now?

I checked their site and they are still only showing the Ink PFI program?

Craigster, just to make sure we're clear on this - are you talking about submitting through different partners, or asking the difference in traffic between Inktomi and FAST (Lycos)?

Marcia,

Sorry for not wording the question well.

1. I am asking the difference in traffic between Inktomi and FAST (Lycos)? What are peoples experience with both of these.

2. They don't go to the same data base to they?

Thanks
Craig

Craigster it was fine, you were asking in relation to the place of the submission. Different databases, Inktomi and FAST, and they're as different as day and night AFAIK.

I'm US-based, I do well with the right keywords with the right site with MSN (Ink), but neglible with FAST/Lycos. I believe the European picture is different.

It's still worth doing FAST in a limited way though, imho. It's cheap enough and it's a good way to get familiar; we never know when they'll forge ahead so it's good to get prepared. Where I am it's not for Lycos traffic, it's more for education and getting prepared. I've only done one site with FAST and the updates have not been reliable like Inktomi, so I wouldn't sink much into it. They'll spider and include sites anyway. Some prefer to wait.

Craig, Marcia is absolutely right. Fast is/can be a good 'investment' if you're into European traffic. Specially if you're going for Scandinavia where Fast is powering Scandinavia Online (Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland). In fact Fast outperforms Ink big time traffic wise up here.

Just for the record: Inktomi and Fast has nothing to do with each other. They're completely different databases (MSN/SOL,Lycos).
