Article says alltheweb.com indexes more pages(2.1 billion)than google and updates more frequently (11 days vs. 28 for google).
Will Alltheweb.com displace google? Publicity like this can't hurt.
kartoo.com
Come on, you know it must have been talked about here at webmasterworld before it's on the radar screen at Time Magazine. :)
One of a few relevant threads:
[webmasterworld.com...]
"Google is still the best one-stop shop for fast, focused results, but the newest sites offer cool features that Google can't yet match."
Thing is, Google isn't trying to be 'cool'. It's functional - I like functional.. alot.
Having more pages doesn't necessarily make one better either ;)
"AlltheWeb updates its pages more frequently..." This isn't exactly true either. While Google's bulk/main update is still monthly the 'Fresh' bot is still running around performing it's temporary updates on sites that are heavily linked or determined to carry fluid content(ex: CNN.com) I mean really - how often do the majority of sites edit their content that often.

28 days? The author must not be keeping up on things here at WebmasterWorld about the re-spidering of regularly updated sites. My main (hobby) site is being indexed about every 2-3 days it looks like.
At the moment, I'd give Google an 'A' and AlltheWeb an A- or B+.
Off to look at this Kartoo thingy....
