Or at least severely penalized for canceling InSite Pro

I signed up for Fast's InSite Pro site search through Lycos 5 weeks ago. It was nice because they would index my entire site every 24 hours and site visitors could search all of my pages.

Unfortunately the number of site searches didn't justify the $289 month charge so I cancelled after 2 1/2 weeks.

Upon cancellation my site was immediately dropped from the Fast/Lycos index with the exception of the home page. They didn't even continue with their indexing and search services for the 1 1/2 weeks remaining in the 1 month that I paid for. All of the pages that were indexed before I signed up disappeared.

Fast has since crawled my site extensively but has not included any of the pages in its index. It appears that they have exacted a heavy penalty on me for cancelling this service. Now my one little page remaining always shows up dead last.

They probably removed your pages from the index because they weren't included in the index before you submitted them via Lycos, if FAST crawls your pages you will probably be in the index next month.
They don't put a penalization on you just because you cancel your subscription i promise you that.

Makes sense to me. Not to be smart or offend, but they will not continue to provide the same service you were paying $289.00 a month for. If they did, I would sign up for a month and then cancel :)

As Lazer says they didn't penalize you, they are just not providing the same service.

Then where did the pages that were included in the index before I signed up go?

FAST may have missed spidering them in the last update and therefore don't have them in there DB. Wait and see, but it's not some kind of penalization because you canceled your membership.

The problem really is PFI pages go into a different db. From which they get dropped upon cancellation.
They may be included per free spidering to the regular db, but that's up to them. Fast's indexing has become somewhat erratic as of lately.

Another problem is the missing 1 1/2 weeks you paid for. Did you contact Lycos about that?

Contacted Lycos by email about the missing 1 1/2 weeks and never received a response.
