There are several web pages linking to my site in fast but not the actual site. I have submitted to them twice. Do they only take ODP listings?

Start running :)
You can submit through both Lycos and AllTheWeb.

If you'd do well with FAST traffic, you could always pay.

P.S. I've never had any trouble with FAST's inclusions.

Hold on a couple more days perhaps. I've seen 3 different FAST spiders out in the last 2 - 3 days. You may be on the list :)

I've got Lycos and AllTheWeb crawling. Could be an update.

Open an Overture account...no SEO needed, just a credit card.

I've submitted to Fast via the free submission form on Lycos. Some sites have showed up, some not.
Is it worth it to pay for the Lycos/Fast service? - Are you folks getting heavy trafic from those SE?

Most of the sites submitted via the free submission form had been included after two-three months: but ONLY the index page included.

And if you pay for the service, they spider more than the index page? Or how else to get them to spider more??

I've found almost all of a brand new site listed in fast for free. Best way seems to have incoming links from sites already in the database.

If you pay for the service you can tell them exactly what pages you wanted spidered, even dynamic pages...

It sure looks like random play at the moment. There are sites that get spidered AND indexed very fast, while others in spite of having lots of quality links don't make it past the main pages. Heavy traffic? In comparison to Google...no. A good strategy could be to pay for a handful of pages, that a) you are sure to get ranking well b) are able to suck users into the site c) converse

Fast was the first to crawl my site (after about 6 weeks)out of many I submitted at the same time and they indexed about 30% of total pages (I have more than 5,000 pages and about 1,500 pages are listed). It was free submission. The traffic from them is not great, out of 700 visitors a day, we have no more than 30 from them (alltheweb and lycos). Most of my visitors come through Google.

fast always surprises, i find as long as you have the basics covered its just a matter of time, and the bots will come. Fasts index is alot more responsive to changes than google. I find if you don't rank well with google, really you need to rewrite the site, whereas with fast site wide tweaks can have a lot of benefit.
