FAST PFI v INK PFI

Experiences on one v the other?

Hi,

Just used INK PFI and have top 10 rankings on tons of keywords EXCEPT the 2 that I need to rank high on (wouldn't you know).

Any opinions on which pay-for-spidering service produces more traffic - Inktomi or Fast/Lycos/AlltheWeb?

I haven't tried the latter, but T-Rex did crawl my site yesterday, so I'm not sure whether to hold off on it or not.

Inktomi (at the moment) sends me much more traffic than Fast/Alltheweb. Most of it comes from MSN and AOL at the moment.

The key for any of these programs is to find the sweet spot.
The sweet spot is in between keyword terms that are highly competitive and difficult to rank under, and those that have low useage and will not generate enough sales.

yeah, back when Looksmart still included directory listings not PFI that would be the best angle for MSN, Inktomi however is still a great method for obtaining AOL rankings.

You can get into FAST a whole lot easier than Inktomi.

Pardon my ignorance, but you can get keywords on INK? I thought it was PFI, meaning you just bought the inclusion of certain URL's - you can determine certain keywords?

If I pay Inktomi to spider my home page, will they delete all the listings I've received for free, like LookSmart did?

You can optimise pages (URL's) in INK and then pay for those pages (or others in your site) to be spidered on a regular basis.

Therefore, you don't actually 'buy' keywords in INK, the success of your efforts will depend on how good your optimisation of your pages for certain keywords/phrases.

Same for Fast and all the other programmes which offer Pay For Spidering services as against bidding services where you bid on a 'Cost Per Click' basis for your chosen keyphrases - obviously even for 'Cost Per Click' you pages still have to be relevant to your phrase(s).

This is the theory anyway!

There's another post on the "will INK delete my free listings if I pay" somewhere on this board. I think the general concensus is "don't mess with it". Optimize the listings you do have, it's better than paying to do the same thing.
