The top page for each of my domains has
disappeared from FAST/Lycos, even though
all (or at least most) of the sub-pages
appear to be indexed.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have
any idea what could be causing it.
We're talking totally vanilla HTML here, no
Javascript, redirects, etc. - heck, not even
any images!

Danny.

Yes, saw the same thing. Internal page showing up instead of index page - in same position as index page previously ranked. As soon as I paid my money to the Insite program index page reappeared.

Same problem here for the last three / four weeks. They will not be getting any money from to correct the problem IF that is indeed their strategy.
I do hope it is just a glitch rather that a deliberate ploy.

I had the same thing happening way back last summer, before the PFI option even was in sight.
Perhaps a problem related to the clustering of results?

Even stranger is the fact that after searching for a keuword if you then click on the "News" or "Images Tab" the index page appears in the "web results" set on the right hand side. This indicates the index page is in the db and that FAST knows its rank.

Hi all. This is Stephen from FAST. I think Heini nailed it...this doesn't have anything to do with PartnerSite (PFI). It appears to be related to the site collapsing (clustering). Also, we are in the process of scaling up the index size (just pushed 800MM index live yesterday) and there might be some associated glitches.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and I'll let you know what we find. This should be resolved shortly.

Welcome Stephen. It is great to have you here, and congratulations on FAST. Heini is always a great supporter of FAST here, but it is also great to have you around.

Welcome Stephen
Good to hear that it is a glitch rather than a policy. Hope you will be a regular visitor to wmw - you will find that there are a lot of enthusiasts for FAST here.

Yes, I'm back to showing obscure internal page - so definitely nothing to do with PFI.

Chiyo! Everybody knows I HATE FAST!

No really, Fast has put together a state of the art search engine with some cool features. Apart from that FAST does a business like everybodey else in the market.

Hey Stephen, thanks for confirming it's just a glitch.
