I found this on the Eudora website: "Already, there are nearly 1,000,000 active users of Eudora in Sponsored mode,..."
I'm sure this is out of date and the numbers are higher now. But there is also the paid version without ads so that would add to the numbers. I'm not sure if the numbers quoted above are worldwide or only for N. America. Those numbers are pretty small beer compared to Outlook. Still it probably is a distant second to Outlook in the USA.
The sponsored version is full featured and just has a 125x125 banner in the lower left corner -- otherwise it is completely free to download and use.
Looks like Lycos did a major banner purchase -- about every 3rd banner is theirs. I hope this means that Lycos will continue to court new users and try to expand their market share. I think that would be benefical for everyone.
i'm sure the web button has been there forever ... i've seen other buttons there from time to time ...
not noticed any lycos ads ... all i seem to get is plenty of amazon ads linking to music and weight loss ... what i want to know how they know i'm a fat slob and that i have my radio on all day ?
I'm not a Mac perdon but from talking to users in the past, many of them used Eudora. Am I right?
Eudora has been around for ages so I think they have a strong following. With the ever popular MS screwups I'm sure some people are starting to switch over for the better options.
