What i am trying to figure out is how too top these engines, for the site of concern, it's topped google, av, and ink, on relevancy, WHY ?, good design, good seo, no spam.
However this isn't the case either in Fast or Lycos, when the site was first in fast, that was the best it ever did, now for targeted keywords, its sliding down out of existence in both, while steadily notching up in google and wisenut, av and ink, why ?
I've been worried about Fast, but more so Lycos.com, so i used their submit at 5 a day starting Friday last week, looked at fast SERPS, today, where the rank was 7 in fast for the kw, now it is 40, further more it is still the same page, which in no-way, is targetted towards this kw, which is heavily reinforced by serps from the more favourable crawlers. This is a site wide problem. Remember their is no spam.
Furthermore, the link campaign to well placed relevant sites, high in ODP and Yahoo, and other places, should have really had an impact, or so i believed, as the site in the ODP, jumped up 30 places in the ODP pop for the cat.
I feel like i am breaking cardinal rules, but i don't know who's holding the rule book and whether they are fuzzy rules ?
One thing that just popped into my head, is competition, consistently subbing the site to fast, and getting it penalised. interesting !
Anyway. Enough moaning, what are the Fast / Lycos, do's and dont's.
Well in the sectors, i am involved the spam is rife, one comp has fourteen sites, with exactly the same content. the sites are interlinked, how can they get away with this ?
The rest of the comp. 1 has 6 sites, another has 7 sites, so on and so on. They get away with it net wide !
That dose'nt concern me, as the sites, are not pro or even midly amatuer SEO efforts, and the results of the one site, i have in comp with them, which seems to be for the targetted kw's is revered in G, AV, Ink and wisenut, should do the job.
Lets say i know nothing. What would you suggest i should do ?

If so this may be where your strategy has a problem, Fast may give bonuses for number of inbound links, which some of your competitors may have been pursuing.
