Everyone's saying it's good news that their losses were in line with expectations, but I'm looking at a sea of red ink and the need for a ten-fold increase in revenue to get into the black.

I'm with you RC. When did business change to such a degree that losing as much as you expected became a GOOD thing, and LOSING less than you expected a GREAT thing?
Grabbing market share, and VC capital aside - profitability is the only metric that makes sense to me. Granted this is a new medium, but c'mon guys. business 101. Figure out how you plan to make a profit BEFORE you invest the tens o'millions.
