Nup! I did a majot site rewrite and although FAST has psidered, it is still listing the old pages.

Not only it is updated, but with meta descriptions listed this time! Fast has always accepted long titles, now they take also reallllly long descriptions.

Wait a minute.

Now that I see the meta descriptions on Fast, they don't look good at all. I can see now I'm going to have to redo 170 descriptions! :(

Yup, for me, they're now showing meta descriptions for all pages that were previously showing descriptions from the body text.

I found 80,000 pages witht the exact same sentence in the title. Now, they have the meta description showing. Nice to know they can now cover up their spammy looking listings, lol.

I saw some description up to 580 characters, out of the bodytext. I thought only 250 are possible...

One of my (plain vanilla .html) sites that had thousands of listings on AlltheWeb just got dropped. Fast spidered thousands of times a couple of weeks ago. This site has over 15,000 pages and many were spidered. I have several similar sites and none were dropped ... any clues as to why this one got singled out?

Edited because my last post was basically retarded ... not enough info given.

The db is howing new results. Some links pages i submitted in the last 2 weeks are showing up and the overall acount of pages that link to me has changed.

The SERPS are unstable - sometimes the new pages are showing and sometimes im getting the old pages and old total link count.

Some of the pages with frames have been left out. Oh well, I guess it is time to change them but I had no incentive until now as they were ranking so well:-)

what I really don�t understand:
it seems to be that FAST only took up pages that were spidered at the beginning of may - and threw away the pages that has been in the index before. Can anybody confirm that?

It looks like they are really switching to a higher frequency spidering cycle.
Their spider went through my site again the same day the new index went online. Mighty impressive.

Google remains the best in relevancy, but speed and fresh content also counts. And here FAST is clearly better these days.

Caught Fast indexing yesterday, though very shallow. I am still awaiting a full listing of all my pages, lycos has already been there and done it.

Curious...

Lycos has never been to any of my sites (relatively new). Fast, yes, has been here the last three days and has taken all it wants.

What does the lycos spider do? Results on lycos to me are Direct Hit, then Fast results. Does it alter the Fast algo based on its own spidering or is it just there to say hello?

I think you may be right, Lycos crawlers made one or two request each - so probably url verification.

Don't yet have the sources to find out how the algo's manipulate each other, as for lycos using direct hit, the site in question is not even on direct hit yet!

I've submitted a site a week to Fast. Within 5 days the site and all its doorway pages are there (Fast loves those).
It reminds me of the days of Infoseek. :)
