I am having a big problem submitting to Lycos with WPG. Every time I submit to Lycos I recieve the "Bad Reply : Server response did not indicate success" message and I resubmit 3x intitally and still nothing.

Is anyone else having this problem, if so what have you done to fix it?

I really do not want to have to manually submit because I have way to many dwp's and do not have the time to do so.

Just tested and got the same. They did updated their submission form not long ago and I suspect wpg was not updated for it. I know many of my own submission script started to fail one day in May and I had to change them.

Brett and Tigger-
I have the latestest version so I dont think that that is it. Im not even sure if it is WPG, because some of my accounts get submitteed to lycos then I think the problems is over.
Then I try some of my other accounts and they never go through or just a sigle page never through, even after all my av and info pages are all submitted.
What I cant figure out is why this is happening and who is to blame me, WPG or Lycos?
My other problem is that no one else is seeming to have this problem so it is hard to get an answer that will help me end this problem.

Like I have said before
I feel like Im the Black Knight in The Holy Grail with all his limbs cut off still trying to put up a fight.

Hi Blue Sun,

Are you checking your logs for the spider or taking the WPG response as an indication of failure. [Not a WPG user so no idea how it "works"].

The add url confirmation page is particularly flaky and doesn't always produce the "Success we etc etc" response expected.

I also find the spider to be ultra sensitive to slow connections etc.

Im on a high speed connection ao I dont think that is the problem. As far as I know my pages are getting spidered, the lycos ones aren't because they aren't getting through but I know the other s are.

As I said before some of my accounts get through and others dont and Im not doing anything different that I did in the accounts that got through to the ones that didnt, so I cant see it being me.

Blue Sun,

Just try a few manual submissions [if you can bear it;)] you will see what I mean by the flaky response.

If WPG is looking for the response string this may be your problem as it isn't always there.

Is it not better to submit to alltheweb as Lycos are now using their results - or is T-Rex still doing something? My submissions to Lycos have not shown up for 3 months - but my submissions to alltheweb started showing up in Lycos today (and all are in alltheweb from this morning). As for WPG, I too have had this error and submitted manually.

I got passed them!

I submitted one of my accounts and my lycos pages went through, so I decided to see if my other ones would get through as well and they did. All my Lycos pages got in on all my accounts.

I figured it out, it is a Lycos problem not mine I think that that are trying to slow down submission by not letting in all pages from the same ip address.
What you have to do to get your pages past them is to do it when they are not looking. When is that? Who knows? Try lunch.

I know that this might not be to helpful as far as when to submit but at least we know that it is Lycos who is doing it.

Its all about luck from what I can gather.
