Does lycos maintain its own database anymore - anyone know where the submited sites from the submit option go now?

They end up in lycos' 'popular' db in Europe.

but isn't that when you sub to the directory? I'm talking about the basic submit url.... or is that what you mean?

mr_dredd Iīm wondering about that too. Something is strange here. I just checked lycos.co.uk and isnīt it that they do not show the updated db from fast? When lycos germany initially started using fast they displayed the then current fast db. But after the last fast update lycos.de in opposition to lycos.com stayed with the same results. The new fast db does not as in other fast partners show up here, neither in german-sites searches nor in worldwide searches. What is most puzzling to me is the fact, that german lycos seemingly has a different db even for worldwide searches from the original lycos.com db. Is all this true for lycos.co.uk too? If so, perhaps we should submit to lycos.de/co.uk anyway. One never knows... On the german lycos addurl page anyhow it says, that lycos will spider sites with their own lycos spider. Nothing whatsoever is said about fast spidering for them. Fast is not even mentioned there.

yes i am really puzzled by this. My understanding is that lycos.co.uk DOES update from FAST, but is slack, and doesn't update straight away. UK version as well doesn't use directhit or dmoz, which .com does, which might explain some differences. But still - what about this "black hole" of a submit button?!!!
