What's this, Lycos results on Lycos?

No really!

I am seeing a whole bunch of real Lycos submissions actually in the Lycos search engine. Mostly I am seeing it coming out of Europe, and they are claming that these pages are being powered by Directhit, but I know for a fact that these are REAL lycos results. I am hoping that the US results will soon be the same as the international. This has been one hell of a holiday weekend!

Is no one else seeing this? It is still happening for me. The vast majority is coming out of Europe, and they DO appear to be pages I submitted to lycos. These pages are not in US lycos or are they in Fast. Please, someone confirm this so I do not think I am seeing hallucinations after the Yahoo crisis.

Can't say I've seen this effect. I'll keep a watch out and report back if I see anything.

And now I am finding the same results intermittently coming out of netfind.co.uk

[netfind.co.uk ]

Just put your kw in place of 'keyword'. These are the same results I see coming out of Europe's Lycos results. They are not the same as what is coming out of fast or lycos/US.

At the top of the lycos results are 2 to 4 "Popular Results". Those were coming from Inktomi as influenced by Direct Hit. (aka: same as Hotbot). I can see two things have changed there. 1) the results aren't Inktomi anylonger(?) and don't appear to be Fast results. 2) When did this [Translate] show up?

So you think these 'popular' sites are coming from Lycos submissions?

Littleman,

Just wanted to confirm your findings but only seeing hits come out of lycos.co.uk. Have one domain (.com) that shows up #1 on a fairly popular two word phrase if the search is done using the worldwide option. I saw the regular T-Rex spider to the site before it is listed so it seems like the same situation you described. Still not seeing this on the US portal.
