Over the last few weeks I have been getting hit hard by a few IP addresses (japanese). They are constantly requesting our non-html content eg Images, javascript files etc. but the urls being requested have an extra apostrophy thus requesting something which does not exist causing a truckload of 404 errors.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

Never seen it before Krapulator but IMO, make it so ;) If they are not using the site "the way you intended them to", then send them somewhere else.

I had something similar hit my site from a Japanese ISP - hit the site once and downloaded all of the image files. Very annoying, but after a bit of .htaccess trickery, hopefully they won't be back!
