you cannot order "widget training classes" online
i was thinking of setting up RCF(remote call fowarding) and getting a special 800 number that the potential "widget student" could call for more information
another problem i face is that the client is very strict about their pages. I cannot add anything to any existing pages on their site, but i can add pages based off the templates and host them on their server.
the other was said to use something involving cookies and then tracking that to the point of information request.(i am pretty clueless on cookie creation/usage)
my thought was to use a special form or contact page with different emails or something along those lines
very interested in hearing what people do in this situation.
thanks in advance

How to track depends on if the conversion you want to track is on-line or off-line.
On-line you should be able to automate it completely. Some of the trackers and ROI tools do this by inserting special tracking codes on the pages. Will your client allow you to do that?
If the conversion is off-line you can add a "discount code" online that people have to mention off-line to get the product and rate they saw on the website. This way you can track where they came from. Dell uses this techique in all off-line marketing. You can even use different codes at different places on the site or at different times a day or week to track when or where prospects found the info that made them call.
