cache:CFTbL33DhL0C:www.atmysite.com/blah.blah

Why would I have 6 hits from Google on a search for a cache from my site?

Can anyone tell me what it would be for, I have this several other times on other web sites that I look after.

When you view a cached page, you might click on "Click here for the current page without highlighting." and then you will come to the page without the cache frame, then you will get that referrer.

On another site I had a search string very similar except for:

cache:CFTbL33DhL0C:www.someone-elses-site.com/blah.blah

Why would someone come to my site when in the search string it wasnt even a search on my site? When I tried the search myself it came to the other persons site that time.

The referrer string might not always be correct, it's not hard to manipulate if you know how to do it, it might also have been that the page redirected the visitor to your site, there is a bunch of options.

creative craig,

I was wondering the same. Not the fact of a cache referal but the number of cache referals.

I can have 20 to 40 referals listed in my webtrends "top search phrases" for the same cache search query. I doubt one person clicking 40 times though.

someone checking out whats in google and whats on page?

I sometimes flick back and forth if a new client comes on-board just to see the differences.

if your site is in the top three it may get a bit of attention from a couple seo's at athe same time if you are in a competitive or an emerging market.

I think you get multiple referals from the Google cache when you have images on the page - Google takes them directly from your site and sends the cached page as a referer for each request.
