Referer about:blank is that real?

Does IE send a referer about:blank or just an empty string.

I've seen some referers that are about:blank, just wondering if this is someone playing around or real.

I guess this happens if the visitor start the browser and select a favorite/bookmark or type the URL in by hand. The Mozilla 1.x sometimes also produces the about:blank referer. Maybe a bug?
