Hi, I've been using web trends on various sites for a couple of years and never really had any major problems. However with my latest site I find that it is not analysing most of my URLS, let me explain..

My site is made up of 95% dynamic pages that are created by use of a CMS. These pages take the format of www.mysite.com/viewPage.jsp?id=616 or www.mysite.com/viewPage.jsp?id=17 etc etc..

Problem is that in the report webtrends only gives a URL of www.mysite.com/viewPage.jsp meaning that I can differentiate between the pages of the site.

I'm assuming the '?' in the URL is causing the problem but does anyone know of a way round this??

Thanks..
Luke

In the options, you should be able to tell webtrends that you want to view file extensions as different documents. Check under Web Traffic Analysis/Files if you use the Analysis Suite.

Thanks for this and I've found the file extensions bit. Trouble is my file extensions are not the normal .html, .html, .asp ect but the filenames end in ?id=123 or ?id=1234 etc. How can I tell webtrends to view these as different files and not cut them off at the '.jsp. part? Does this mean I need to add an entry for .jsp or add some kind of wild card entry to cover the dynamic part of the URL?

Cheers!

There should be a list of default extensions (such as html and so on). If jsp is not included, then yes, you have to add it.

Then there should be a radio button where you can choose for webtrends always to view the whole document path (including the part after the ?) as a separate document.

Hey there- you won't be able to do this. I've got the same problems. Under Resources Accessed/Dynamic Pages & Forms(you'll have to set this up in options) you can see www.mysite.com/viewPage.jsp
but not the following ?= etc... Webtrends wont play that game I'm afraid. :(

Hi edit_g

I guess it depends which Webtrends tool and/or version you use. I just checked the Webtrends online knowledge base. See here [netiq.com] for the solution.

Thanks sinner_g prehaps i'm being stupid but when I do a search in here I get the following option:

How do I report in the Top Pages table a page that has a question mark (?) as part of the URL, but is NOT a dynamic page?

This is annoying because if I do a search on dynamic URLs then I still only get an option for if my URLs aren't dynamic - but they are!

Could you let me know what you searched to get an answer please??

Thanks a lot!
Luke

I just searched the knowledge base for 'dynamic'. Actually, the link provided above should have led directly to the solution page, but when I click it now I only get an internal server error...
