Earlier this month I noticed in my logs that I was having images hotlinked from "http://shakira/~jeewee/" (doesnt exist). It kept happening, so today I went back in to block the culprit via .htaccess, and upon finding the IP and doing a final search of my logs for its behavior I noticed that it was coming rather often in the following form:

217.121.247.253 - - [23/May/2002:10:49:41 -0400] "GET / HTTP/1.0" 200 29017 "-" "myownhomeblogindexingservicecrawler libwww-perl/5.53"

I originally thought that this was just a person with extremely bad manners who kept hotlinking my images, but now it appears to be a bot of some sort??? Any ideas?

New at this,

Kara

Definitly looks like someone trying to build a search engine.

It seems to be a craz.
<smug>Hell I'm in the planning stage. Although I have a completly new and user/seo friendly idea. ;).</smug>
The proof will be in the visitors.

Well, as long as I know it is not malicious. :)

And good luck to you, Chris.
