Praise for awstats Open Source software

(I didn't write it, etc. - just use it!)

Howdy,
Granted my needs are different from many here (all my work is non-commercial). But I find awstats to be a great stats package.
I actually just copy the .log file from the server every now and then and then do the processing with awstats on my local system (although awstats can also run on the server). My local system is a p3-500/win98 + cygwin and awstats performance is very good.
Another nice feature: awstats has a GPL or similar license (aka free!)

Peace,
David

Thanks, David. I looked and found it's available at Freshmeat and SourceForge, great sources for open source software. I'll check it out, I'm looking for something that's good and free.

I agree with this, but I find that AWStats does produce some pretty strange reports at times. It was working fine last month, nothing has changed on my server or in my AWStats.conf and suddenly I'm getting thousands of weird entries in the report.

Some of them don't even exist in the log file! Probably just me. Way to go AWStats!

I installed it yesterday, I like it, it's clean and I haven't noticed any issues yet.

Of course I had to start my logs over using ELF instead of splitting them into seperate files.
