Google Analytics Issue, Not receiving Data

I have been asked by a client to add Google Analytics to their website. They supplied me with the code. Since the website is based on multiple templates I added the snippet of code to the appropriate templates. I placed the code just before the </body> tag. I then Q+A the side to ensure the code is present by view source.

The issue I am experiencing is I waited 24 hours to view the report. After 24 + hours I still was not receiving any Data. I still have the Waiting for Data message next to the websites profile. I reviewed their help section but they do not provide any useful help in regards to my particular issue. I emailed their Support Team and almost 24 hours later they get back to me stating that I added the code properly but since the website has an extensive side navigation menu that uses JavaScript they assumed that it was interfering with the Analytics JavaScript. They recommended I place the code in the Header Tag just after the Meta Tags. I took their advice and moved the code. It has now been 24 + hours since I have moved the code. I still have the same message next to my profile Waiting for Data. I emailed the same person from Google in regards to this issue and they still have not addressed my concern.

Has anyone had the same issue using Google Analytics? If so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

have u looked at your reports to see if its showing any data? i have one site at the moment which says 'waiting for data' but it is actually recording all my visits so im not too worried about it.

I experienced a similiar issue. I've had sites take a week or longer before the analytics said they were recieving data. However, the reports were updating and displaying data from day one.

My feelings are that it has to do with the amount of traffic the site(s) you are measuring recieves. The less traffic that the site recieves, the longer it takes.

Even with minimal traffic, it usually doesn't take more than a week or two before it claims to be recieving data.

I know that some time has elapsed since you posted and I responded, but how did things work out?
Did you have an experience that contradicts mine?

that could very well be right. one site i have had online for about 3 weeks now is still saying 'waiting for data' and it has not even had 10 visits. one i added 4 days ago has had probably around 50 visits and is showing as 'receiving data'.

Thank you all for your advice.

In regards to some of your comments I checked the actual data and nothing was being reported. I then reported this to Google and they investigated the issue and there seemed to be something wrong on their side. The next day I started seeing data but I still had the Waiting for Data message. It took a couple of weeks before the message finally went away.

Thanks again for all of your advice.
