When Google Analytics Disagrees with Webalizer

Google says 1700 a day, Webaliser 300...

I recently got a google analytics account and i told me to my surprise that around 1700 visitors are arriving every day to my site.

Until now i've been using webalizer which came free with the server and it told me I was getting just 300. Which one can i trust?

There were other aspects of webalizer like search queries that couldn't have been accurate, too, so maybe it wasn't working over all?

Webalyzer and all such programs define things differently and they have different limitations.

Your best approach if you really need to know is to open your logs, learn what the fields mean and how a visit is defined, and check one for yourself. You can use Excel to put the fields into neat columns, and Excel can help you sort.

Between Webalyzer and Google A., I'd believe Google.
