Reloads 1300+ Today And Rising

In the last few hours, we have received over 1300 reloads to our site. Our unique hits are normal, ie, around 60+ and on average, we would only have about 20 reloads a day. I have never seen any figures like this before and all the hits are coming from the same number with no referrer, although they did initially show up as a referral from a paid link. I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me any help as to what might be going on here?

Could be an a temped sudo ping overload. It would take a lot more to crash the server. But, i can't think of anyother reason. Well, expect, maybe someones cat is going nuts on a keyboard.. LOL I caught one of my Mccaw pluking keys out of a keyboard one day.

One of my cats both likes to sleep on the keyboard and has an astonishing ability to find key combinations that actually do things. If I forgot to lock my screen when I went away for a few hours, she could do something like that to a site I'd been looking at...
