Hi All,

I hope whether anyone can help me on this problem I exprerienced few days ago. one of my site got really huge amount of unique visits comparing to other days. But the problem is those visits are from same IP .. using different domain. When I back track the Domain, it leads to some marketting web page (more like those spam mails). So is this web spams? Have anyone come across something like this earlier?

Cheers,
Akila

sounds like referral log spam - they do it so YOU will go look at their site.
Why do it? Because it works.

Don't know of any _ Just had it done to me before. Just ignore it and it will go away. You can also check the IP and ban it if you like. Harmless other than bugging you when you check your logs. Just log spam.

From time to time I see a big jump in previously never heard of referals also.

About 95% of the time when I check them out, they are some link farm or spam site. The most obvious characteristic of them is that even though we get a lot of hits, we NEVER get sales from them. Which makes me pretty certain they are just spamming hits to run the count up.

The other 5% is usually some user forum where a particular product + link got mentioned, or a new linkback.

But vast majority are junk hits.
