Countrywise report in Awstats

Hi,
I am using the Awstats provided by my hosting company. My countrywise report shows the following data:

United States us 30408 249308 1.26 GB
Unknown ip 5837 19777 358.84 MB
=========================================
Does this mean that the maximum number of users are from US? And what does "unknown" country imply?

It means the database awstats was using matched the incoming IPs of the pages and hits to US addresses. It may, or may not, mean that those users are from the US. Geotargeting may not be accurate. "Unknown" basically means there were no database matches.

You should review the section of the awstats documentation that describes how the countries are determined and check with whoever needs this information that the level of accuracy provided is sufficient for their needs.
