Is it possible to find a users country to default to an affiliate?

Hi,

I am looking into amazon as an affiliate. I was wondering is it possible to get the website users country then show them either an affiliate link to amazon.com or .co.uk (or any other amazon.country )?

I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how to go about doing this so first of all an explanation on whether you can do this?

Secondly - How would you go about doing this (bearing in mind I'm not very experienced in programming)?

and (in the event it is too complicated for me to set up now)

Thirdly - as I am creating the site now. What should I do now that will make it easier change the coding later on?

You want to implement a lightweight form of cloaking [webmasterworld.com].

This can be done by deriving the user's location based on their ip address and serving affiliate links appropriately. Try googling for ip2location (many other products are available).
