looking for some literature on web analytics. been through googling around, and I think its time for me to get something in the form of a tangible asset!

i almost decided on two:
1) Practical Web Traffic Analysis: Standards, Privacy, Techniques, and Results by Alex Poon, Ben Pearce, Peter Comber, Peter Fletcher
2) Web Metrics: Proven Methods for Measuring Web Site Success by Jim Sterne

of course with the second one im in little doubt, but a couple of reviews in amazon got me thinking about the first one:
1) Will not help Marketers Understand Site Analytics
2) Not for newbies. Not for pros.

anyone read through these two? whats your opinion? which one of these should i go for? or do you have some other in mind?

briefly, what i need is a complete write-up on both the technical and the commercial aspect of web analytics.

Well, Jim's definitely respected in my book. (No - I haven't written a book... I was being... never mind)

You might like to look up the web analytics association for their thoughts.

One or two useful articles in this forum's library.
