Hi,

I would like to understand how to interpret my stats from webalizer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From the home site of the webalizer how to interpret what it says [mrunix.net]

If your hoster has "awstats" set up on your machine ..usually it is ..they just need to switch it on ..you may find it easier to understand at the beginning ..the figures for each item will differ from one stat package to the other as they record differently and allocate what they get to different internal interpreters ..

Another stats program described by it's makers as "a very pretty stats program" ;)..

It's graphical interface is easier to read and understand for beginners than webalizer or the others ..it is usually included in apache installations when the server is set up by the host company ..

You can read about it here [awstats.sourceforge.net]..dont try to download it, you usually won't need to ..ask your hoster first if it is on your server or if they can implement it for you ..it is open source freeware ..if you have cpanel ..look for it as an icon on your control panel ( first page of cpanel after you are successfully logged in to the cpanel )..click on it or the link just below it ( depends on your cpanel ) and you are in ;)

Thanks again.

I just sent a note to my server people and asked them if they had it and if they could turn it on, as you have suggested.

I do see a lot of pretty charts when I look at my statistics, but it's hard for me to understand it all.

:) I feel better now, there's soo much to learn about this all, I'm plugging away though. I just have a million questions every day, but I'm reading here and am learning a lot.

Leosghost,

Hi. I just got in touch with my web host and they say I do not have AWSTATS available. I could get URCHIN 4 stats however.

Do you recommend that one?

Yes ..it's a littler trickier to understand ..but you'll get used to it ..you cant say your hosts name in open fora ..( I only know a few who dont have awstats and know some to have had bad experiences with certain companies customer support ..just in case you are with one of these that I know ..sticky me ) TOS ..
